How to increase my English vocabulary?

On the capacity of one word…

It’s well known that the English language is as important for physics as Latin for medicine. When you are writing a letter or an article in English, to accurately convey your thoughts to a potential reader, it is better to use the closest English equivalents of your native words. A suitable native word comes out naturally, but in a dictionary from your native language to English, there are normally several versions of its translation, and not all of them fit your context. You may recall that you saw them before, then you find the most appropriate one and look at this in a good English dictionary, searching for examples of its classical usage. After such a procedure, the word has practically already entered into your lexical reserve.
